Teaching
A recipient of the university-wide Excellence in Teaching Award from the Teacher Recognition Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Nicole has taught Composition and Rhetoric, Poetry and Literature, Critical Thinking, Writing Center Theory, Public Speaking, and Student Development Theory all within an antiracist pedagogical framework.
Currently, Nicole teaches writing to graduate students at National Defense University in Washington, DC. Before NDU, she was a First-Year Advisor and Instructor in the School of Education at American University; a Senior Lecturer and Assistant Director of the Writing Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago; and an adjunct Writing Professor and Writing Center tutor at Montgomery County Community College.
She’s been a dedicated member of her departments and an unofficial ambassador to university life for 18 years.
